I like windows because I know that when I buy an OS it's good for at least 5 years with minimal updates, if I bought another mac I'd be stuck upgrading daily security updates and installing a new OS once every few years... what a pain

Longhorn is scheduled for late 2006 at the very very earliest. I'd imagine the next one after that won't be available until 2010, at the earliest. (When I say the next one, I'm not referring to a jazzed-up version of Longhorn.)

Sadly by the time Longhorn ships it'll already be somewhat out of date.

(*This thread is quite old)
The next OS replacing Windows XP would be Windows Vista (codename "Longhorn").

There might be another Windows OS replacing Windows Vista in the future (possibly codename "Blackcomb")
