User log ons and passwords

Hi
Can any one help me?
Im a student and Im trying to set up my computer in my appartment so that only I have access to who logs on my computer. Ive gone into Control Panel, Users and set up a user-name and password but when I turn the computer off and then on again to try and test it, I can by-pass the password by pressing escape. is there anyway to stop this happening so that I can control who logs on i.e. you have to know the password to use the computer?
I'm using Windows 98
Thanks for your help!!
:)
Annie

Bypassing the the login by hitting the Esc key is normal for Windows 98, I don't remember if you can disable that feature. You can however have separate profiles for each user who uses the computer. Check out this help page for more info. Have you thought about upgrading to 2000 or XP Home/Pro?
