I want to put XP Home on my computer. I am getting conflicting advice as to whether or not I can install XP Home over 2000 Pro, or whether I have to remove 2000 Pro completely in order to install XP Home. This is my first venture into the Forum.

You don't have to wipe your drive before you reinstall XP Home over 2000 Pro, but it is highly recommended -- almost so much that I wouldn't ever do it any other way. I would recommend you backup your files on to an external hard drive or something of the sort (burning CDs is fine), wipe your drive, format your drive, and then do a clean install with Windows XP Home.

Hi, I'm in a similar situation. But can't seem to format the disk with windows 2000 on it. Tried booting off a floppy disk but doesn't let me into command mode - How do you get to the point in windows 2000 to allow you to format the hard drive?
Thanks |

You're welcome. It's just best for your computer and you (so there's no later problems) that you do a full reinstall.
