Red face what to do when peripherial is not working?

Hello,

I have an office PC with xp home, I try to not install anything "free" but I cannot access my peripherials, neither stick memories, neither cd-rw, neither iomega 100. I need to make a backup urgently for the data.

I usually update my Norton 2002 (auto mode) and made scan twice a week.

I use Norton Internet Security and Zonealarm (free).

In control panel/system/hardware, everything looks working properly.

Any Idea? This is the first time it occurs to me.

Please help me!!!!!!!!

Thanks

David.
