Default startup problem help needed

hi all
i am having problems with my computer i am using xp
when it starts up it starts chekin c: for fat32 then when it has finished its check it goes into standby mode and wont continue any futher.
i have reformated the drive but am unsure if i have done it corectly the same probles occurs.
any sugestions?

If you've just done the reformat, I would actually repartition the drive and reformat again. Sometimes just formatting a drive isn't enough. Use fdisk to partition the drive and hopefully that will resolve the problem. Of course report back here with the results if you do try this.
