I defrag my main hard disk about once per month. That's much more than is needed, but it's so easy to do that I might as well do it. However, I'm just now defragging my 100 GB external hard disk for the first time in two years. :) It's going so very slowly with approximately 85 GB of files on it. So, that leads me to the question: how often do you defrag?

I have done it maybe 2 times since I bought this computer. I need to reinstall XP soon, so I'll probably do it then. Even with 512MB of memory, it has started to slow down a lot since I got it.

I don't defrag as much as I should. Actually maybe once every 3 months! My dad is obsessed with defraging his computer. Does it defraging really help though?

It helps to identify the bad sectors on your hard drive, and it optimizes the drive to work better.
