Default 256 MB geforce fx5700le nvidia

That is the card I have, I like playing half life 2. I have 1 GB of memory and AMD 64 3000. That is plenty of pc power to run it, but my graphics card doesnt quite cut it. I like playing it at 1280 *1024. But it only runs at 15-20 fps. I need more than that because it lags. I am looking for a decent video card. ATI or Nvidia card. What would you suggest? With modest prices and that will speed the fps so it will be running 30 fps or more? Please help!

This is the same card I use, and have been for years, and I'm able to play the latest games with minor lag. However expect to pay $250 or so for an excellent video card.

I recommend GeForce7900GS AGP ($170) or ATI X1950Pro AGP ($180), and you will be able play half life 2 on the highest details on any resolution, with good frame rate.
