There are a couple of reasons to update an operating system.

1. Security issues. If your computer is exposed to the internet or large
network, you want to make sure you have the current patches installed.
Redhat proper is no longer supporting updates to Redhat 8. They will cease
offering updates to Redhat 9 in April (though some outside entities intend
to continue offering updates.) Fedora Core 1 is the current Redhat release
for home users.

2. The newer kernels/releases tend to offer better hardware support,
especially for more recent devices.

3. Improvements in graphics, ease of use and other items that make a
system more friendly and pleasant to use.

4. Better support for some recent or cutting edge software programs.

5. Simple curiosity to try out the most recent distributions.

If these situations don't apply to you and your system is operating as you
need it to, keep in mind that ANY upgrade (whether Linux, Windows or
whatever) always carries a risk of creating problems, up to and including
a complete, unrecoverable crash of your system.

It is up to you to assess the benefits versus risks in upgrading versus
standing pat.

No, you should get Fedora Core 1.
On the other hand, if RH 8 is ok for you, keep it.
