compatable with Powerpoint?

Thanks

Michael,

While this sounds like an easy question, there is an awful lot more to it
than you realize. You can get most multi-media to play in PowerPoint on
your machine by:
- installing the appropriate codecs
- current video drivers
- current player versions
- having the correct multi-media settings on your machine
- linking/inserting correctly

It also helps if your machine is newer/faster/bigger and not doing anything
else.

But all this does not mean that it will play on someone else's machine.
PowerPoint does not handle the movie file, it simply tells the Operating
System, "Hey, here's a file. What can you do with it?" If the Operating
System knows what to do with this file (is configured correctly), it'll play
the movie. If not, then nothing.

The real problem is that a lot of media type programs think they know what
is best for your operating system and give it bad advice (change the
multi-media settings). You have little or no control over what settings are
in place on someone else's machine.

So, the best answer is to stay with common formats (AVI mp2 etc.) and common
codecs.

It depends. Generally mpg1 and avi are best. You'll probably want to read
through the information at

picture of how PowerPoint handles multimedia.
