Sorry to be uninformed but I cannot seem to understand the difference
between ARM, MIPS etc. I recently bought a Toshiba e400 and as far as I know it has an xscale processor... is this compatible with either of those. I notice the choices when downloading software sometimes and just want to be sure to grab the correct version. thanks in advance |

ARM, MIPS, SH3, SH4 and X-Scale are the names of processors archictetures
used in PDAs. There ara not compatible with each other, therefore you have to always download right version of application for your device. Only ARM and X-Scale CPUs are compatible. X-Scale is the newest in kind :) -- ..: Jakub Kańczugowski ..: www.PDAclub.pl |

If it is an iPAQ, or has PPC2002 or better on it, it uses the ARM
architecture. iPAQs always did, and MS made that the standard for 2002 and later. -- Sven, MS-MVP Mobile Devices "Jakub Kanczugowski" <duncan@no-spam-ever.ceti.pl> wrote in message news:O4SpR0kOEHA.2996@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... > ARM, MIPS, SH3, SH4 and X-Scale are the names of processors archictetures > used in PDAs. > There ara not compatible with each other, therefore you have to always > download right version of application for your device.
