Default can't hot sync

All of a sudden, my Sony ClieT615C will not hot sync to my desktop. When I
press the hot sync button on the cradle, nothing happens on my computer
screen or the hand-held screen. If I tap the hot sync icon on the handheld
screen, the handheld says "connecting with desktop etc.", but eventually it
says "connection between handheld and desktop could not be established.."
I've also tried using a 3rd party USB sync cable with the same results, and
also tried installing the desktop software to another computer (my laptop)
which never had any Palm software installed previously.

The unit still charges fine in its cradle, so that connection is okay. It
also charges from the USB sync cable. The handheld OS is 4.1, the Desktop
and Hot Sync is 4.0.1.

Soft and Hard Resets didn't help either. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

Steve

If you tried a different computer, installation, cable and even reset the
Palm, then I'd have to say that a Palm fault is possible. First I suggest
you try a different cradle, then perhaps you can be lead to suspect a
physical port problem on your Clie (assuming a hard reset was of no
benefit).
