Problems With Accton EN 2242 Serice MiniPCI Fast Ethernet Adapter - Mandrake 10.0 Community Beta

I have an Acer Aspire 1200 series laptop, installed mandrake Linux 10.0,
worked fine. Connected to the internet through my desktop (running Windows
XP Pro internet connection sharing) fine. However after rebooting the
Ethernet adapter failed to initialise so I cannot get a network connection.

Reboot the same laptop in windows XP home edition and the connection works
fine.

Any ideas?

I have already tried V9.2 and that hung when attempting to initialise
PCMCIA, disabling PCMCIA meant the system booted but again network drivers
failed to initialise.

I reinstalled the OS and the network connection worked fine for a day .. and
then the same problem! Frustrating!

Thanks very much for any help in advance folks,

Julian Hirst

I had the same problem but on my laptop which is a Fujistu-Siemens amilo d. The problem was a IRQ conflic between the PCMCIA controller and the accton driver, both requested the IRQ 11 with the result that none can use it. So i solved the problem shutting down the pcmcia daemon, and the lan started working again. Maybe on your laptop the conflict is different, to view which module causes the problem, watch the kernel logs.
