Thanks to Santa, I just got a wireless router to share a cable internet connection. It works really well, for the net, but my O.E.6.0 email does not work. It is trying to connect thru my LAN connection. Is this correct? I only started using the wireless router this afternoon. untill then I was plugged directly into the modem. After setting up the wireless router, I did not change any settings in O.E. When I watch the sequence of lights on my monitor, it appears as though the router (smc7004vwbr) and the wireleess USB Network adapter(Linksys wusb11) communicate together, but are unable to access the internet. O.E then comes up with an error message. The error message happens a lot faster than it did wh en I was connected directly to the modem. When I was connected directly to the modem and had a problem O.E. would say "connecting for about 5 secs before giving an error. Now it says "connecting" for barely 1 sec. I checked Shaw's website O.E steup page and everything looks O.K., including user name. I do not think that O.E is able to connect to the internet through the wireless router. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Nathan | | | | 12-26-2003, 01:36 AM | #6 | | | Re: No Outlook Express on wireless I am replying this email with OE which is the default newsgroup client for me and it is using wireless LAN. First, make sure you have set up your wireless LAN correctly. That means you have no problem using other applications, such as IE or ping or any other to access Internet. And try, if you have Outlook, to see if it can send and receive emails. If you have no problem with the Internet connection. Check connection settings of your OE. For me, I unclicked everything in all those boxes. When I went into OE 6 on my admin account, it asked me to reset it up. I did and no problems. I had also removed my wired Lan card due to space. Try removing your Lan card or disabling. ----- xfile wrote: ----- I am replying this email with OE which is the default newsgroup client for me and it is using wireless LAN. I have tried with my firewall disabled and norton e-mail scan disabled, but its still giving the same error. If I go back to my direct connect through the network card/cable modem Then its Ok. So, The problem must be with Shawmail, but I cannot figure out what is different bettween my wireless conne ction and the direct connect network/modem connection. Any Ideas??
