Default No Sound/Please Help!

I've got a mess! I did a clean install of windows XP due to uncorrectable system problems (could not do system restore) Had most everything back to normal, including the sound but then completely lost my cd drive and the dvd drive. I did system restore wh
ich got them back but now have lost the sound again. I am afraid to do system restore at this point for fear of losing the drives again. I am at a loss how to fix.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi Tammy,

The loss of those drives is due to a registry problem. Should it happen to
you again, there is a fix for it you can get here:
