iPod shuffle + sunglasses = DIY Oakley Thump

From Engadget. Make your own Oakley Thump Sunglasses. How ridiculous does this look?

Ha! That's hilarious. I would definitely wear that if someone wanted to donate to me that iPod. ;) Definitely geeky, though.

Yes, only Johnny Depp can wear that and get away with still being cool... and sure, he's a geek. I think he said that once himself in an interview. I don't think he is actually wearing these damn things, though.

On a side note, sunglasses + iPod is an incredibly effective method of attracting attention, and in my case, being a music-loving non-collared shirt wearing-most-of-the-time-when-not-at-work-or-out, and going to a school that for some reason is really image concious, it is the right kind of attention. Firstly, people who would normally give you a rotten look or something irking don't, because they can't see you! The added iPod benefit (you can even try this without sunglasses), almost deletes you from the scene. Your a non-character. Kinda cool, especially since its almost like I'm friggin superman and can actually tell when a girl is looking at me/catch her off guard ;)

Plus, the world forgives you more, thinks your cooler, etc. Showing consideration like opening doors, from a guy wearing headphones/earbuds ( I personally think earbuds win on the cool-factor), well, that really says something I guess. Oh yeah, guy next to you talking obnoxiously? Wish you could say something? Well you can, by turning up the volume in a slightly demonstrative manner. No more talk, and they will get the point. ;)

It's also a grand excuse for accidentally missing your friends when walking to class. "Er, me and my iPod are kinda in a different world-". Not that I do it intentionally, but its almost as if my friends are more accepting of the fact that I'm a bit of a space cadet... as long as I got those earbuds.

However, those glasses suck (Oakley's). Not only are they the ugliest things I've ever seen, but it totally ruins the accent given by earphones hidden behind your jacket-thread-the hood + sunglasses (burton is more my favourite here). You don't look like a geek- god knows people can do that and still be decent -you look like some tacky idiot wearing bad glasses straight out of the Terminator series...oh yeah, and your a security guard.

Personally I like the mockup better, hah!

LOL @ what Errant said. :)

I agree that the guy looks ridiculous, but who wouldn't want a pair of those?
