Don't you wish you bought Apple stock?

Since their great quarter earnings were posted, their stock has gone up over 10%. I really wish I had anticipated how many iPods would sell during the holidays (~4 million). Silly me... :(

Hmm I've had stock with apple since it was $13/share. Ive gone through cycles of buying and selling with apple. I always have to laugh how the investors moan and whine about how apple doesn't do thius or that- then finally when they do they bash apple for doing that thing they wanted apple to do.
Of course apple doesn't pay dividends- so - well thats anothe rstory! :-D

i have Apple stock... as to it not paying dividends, maybe one day, although I doubt it. I can't really see Apple becoming blue chip like Proctor & Gamble any time soon. I own shares of that, as well. Its good having types of both; stock that rises slowly over time, and stock that really doesn't do much rising/falling but pays a steady dividend.

Here's a news clipping about it:
Quote:
For the quarter, the Company posted a net profit of $295 million, or $.70 per diluted share. These results compare to a net profit of $63 million, or $.17 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Revenue for the quarter was $3.49 billion, up 74 percent from the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 28.5 percent, up from 26.7 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 41 percent of the quarter's revenue.

Apple shipped 1,046,000 Macintosh units and 4,580,000 iPods during the quarter, representing a 26 percent increase in CPU units and a 525 percent increase in iPods over the year-ago quarter.

Personally I don't wish I bought Apple's stock only because I don't buy stock. There are a lot of technology stocks that sky rocketed. Ebay/Google both did really well when they came out. My Dad bought into Google and his earnings was double what he put in.

Wow. Those are some amazing numbers. The iPod's don't surprise me, but the CPUs shipped certainly do!

1 million? I don't think I've ever seen that kind of number out of a quarter report...

I wonder how next quarter will go... compared to last year's quarter...

I know that it's late, but I'm thinking about jumping on the Apple stock bandwagon. It seems as if the company is only going to do better than they're currently doing. How could they go down? They can only go up!

I've never purchased any stock, but having missed both Google and Apple I feel as if maybe I should look into it. I have some money that I might be able to invest, but I feel as if I don't know enough to make good stock tips. Maybe I should start reading the Wall Street Journal. ;)

Cool

Keep in mind when you quote apple as having one direction to go- that direction being towards higher priced stock (meaning higher earning for shareholders) that there is more to it then hits the eye.

Historically apple has always been piss poor in the eyes of the analysts when they do well they get smacked for not doing good enough- when they do poorly they can smacked for doing so poorly- apple as a stock cant win when it comes to this stuff...

For instance fool.com has criticized apple for the minimac- yet not long ago thats exactlyw hat they wnated apple today. This is merely one example of many.

Now im not going to say appel is or isn't good to buy into now- I have my feelings personally but I'll let everyone make up their own minds. Basically look over the historical records with apple stock and you I am sure will see what I am meaning. I have been investing in apple for MANY years.

I think MiniMac will be huge for Apple's stock. Honestly, I bet they sell a lot of them.
