Mr. Paul M. Taylor Hi, I'm new here and new to forums and don't really understand how to use them very well. I'm desperate to know the ideal cluster size for speeding up my Windows XP Pro that has 2GB of memory. I have long believed that the largest size you have plenty of disk space for and ram the faster the system will function because there will be fewer disk access for any particular file the system needs. This makes it seem that my cluster size ought to be more like 4MB than a mere 4K to substantialy speed up my system. I'd certainly like to know why a mere 4K is most efficient. Isn't RAM still much much faster than disk??? |
