Microsoft Loopback Adapter and IIS Issue

I have installed and setup the Microsoft Loopback Network
Adapter and setup IIS to use the IP for a web site.
Everything works fine accessing the web external to the
machine, but if I try to access the web local to the
machine on the IP address that is on the loopback adapter
I cannot connect. I will not even allow me to telnet to
port 80 local on the machine, but I can ping the IP just
fine.

IP setup on the box(dummy IPs used)

Loopback Adapter
IP: 192.168.1.1
Netmask: 255.255.255.254
Gateway:

Real Network Adapter
IP: 192.168.2.10
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.2.1

Does anyone have any ides or suggestions???

Thanks,
Alvin

If you have an actual adapter, you don't need the local loopback
adapter. That's used if you have no other active adapter in your
system. Use the IP of the "real" adapter instead.

Re: Microsoft Loopback Adapter and IIS Issue

We are using this in a load balance config and would prefer not to have
two configs for each of the webs(ie we have some email applications that
need to pull html templates from the web). We could use that work
around, just wondering, why we couldn't pull from the loopback adapter.
