Can Dish HD 811 from Dish Network be used as an OTA HDTV tuner?
I'm not into any kind of subscription services that constantly pulls money out of my pocket. Satellite TV is one example. However, Dish Network has a good plan right now that offer all the equipment for free. So I'm thinking why not get Dish for one year and then I'll own two or three of their Dish HD 811. Then I'll cancel their service, and survive with OTA HDTV if their HD 811 supports OTA HDTV? Does the thing have an online PDF manual that I can read up? |

It will only function as an OTA tuner if you are a Dish Network customer. Once you cancel your service it will not work. -- JimMcC ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JimMcC's Profile: 3934 View this thread: 13325 |

The 811 OTA tuner SUCKS!!! It is a worthless piece of crap... It has
problems locking on to a signal, etc.. You can be watching a channel for hours, then change the channel and go immediately back to the previous channel and it will not find the station!! Don't go with Dish.. My Dish HD 811 works awesome with the Zenith Silver Sensor antenna. I had a
Terk dish mounted unit and it was worthless. I get ALL of the OTA channels in the Boston Marker with the Zenith and I am located 20+ miles from the towers. I do have problems when I am Off Air and switch back to Satellite as the Sat signal is not locked and it has to re-acquire the signal. Otherwise I am very satisfied with the OTA reception of the Dish HD811 "shadesofgrey@people.com" <shadesofgrey@peoplepc.com> wrote in message news:xjtoc.3423$zO3.1164@newsread2.news.atl.earthl ink.net... > The 811 OTA tuner SUCKS!!!
