hi , iam n00b in bsd
i use free bsd , how to upgrade a package using portage system ? and when i do pkg_add somepackage , why it does not install the latest version of this package ?? thanks |

I'm assuming the freebsd portage system is similar to the gentoo linux portage sytem. If this is the case, then the lastest version is probable masked. This means that the new version hasn't fully been tested to work properly on the distro. I know how to over-ride this in gentoo, but you might want to check out the freshports forum for more help on this topic.

You 1st need to use cvsup and then portupgrade
here is the steps :- cd /usr/ports/net/cvsup make install cd /usr/ports/sysutils/portupgrade make install then make a cvsup file and use it with cvsup ex:- cvsup -g supfile note :- supfile is the file you created then :- portupgrade -aRr that will upgrade ALL the packages on your system to the latest one. __________________ Use your knowledge to gain a knowledge Cheap in price , Great Performance [url]http://www.gogohost.com[/url] |
