Which is the best spyware program out there? I need to start using one. | | | 01-05-2005, 08:59 AM | #2 | | I <3 Windows Join Date: May 2004 Location: Connecticut, USA Posts: 2,353 | I recommend that you look at both Lavasoft's AdAware and SpyBot: Search and Destroy. Both can be downloaded from Download.com. If you have any questions about how to use either program, feel free to ask. I'm glad you're looking at ridding that spyware from your computer. :) | | | 01-08-2005, 07:44 AM | #3 | | Registered User Join Date: Nov 2004 Posts: 17 | Thanks. I downloaded both. I'll run them later today. | | | 01-08-2005, 08:08 AM | #4 | | I <3 Windows Join Date: May 2004 Location: Connecticut, USA Posts: 2,353 | Let us know how they work out for you. Make sure to Update them before running. They both require updates with new definitions and new spyware detection tools. This is very important. | | | 01-17-2005, 10:14 PM | #5 | | Registered User Join Date: Nov 2004 Posts: 17 | They both worked really well. They both found lots of spyware on my computer. :) Thanks a lot for your help. | | | 01-17-2005, 10:18 PM | #6 | | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: Secret Underground Layer In Kreplakistan Posts: 706 | Webroot Spy Sweeper seems to be a good one, I have been using it for the past couple of weeks. It costs $29.95. | | | 01-19-2005, 11:26 AM | #7 | | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Posts: 191 | Do you really think that it's worth it to pay for Webroot Spy Sweeper when there's SpyBot, AdAware, and Microsoft's AntiSpyware? | | | 01-26-2005, 11:31 AM | #8 | | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Posts: 177 | I've always had the best luck with SpyBot. It always gets all of the annoying spyware off of my computer whenever I run it. | | | 01-30-2005, 08:21 AM | #9 | | Registered User Join Date: Jan 2005 Posts: 7 | I'm an antispyware freak, so i have like 10 programs spybot and ad-aware are the best, but be sure to update them regularly also, always have an anti-virus program too another good tool if you use IE is spyware blaster, available at http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html | | | 01-30-2005, 11:57 AM | #10 | | Registered User Join Date: Jan 2005 Posts: 3 | My experience has been that neither Ad-Aware or SpyBot by themself are able to clean everything off of a messy computer. However, combined they're able to get the job done almost every time. Get them both, update them both, and you're good to go! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Rate This Thread | | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -7.
