| Redhat 9 wont boot....again! Hello, I am using RH9 that boots from a diskette. I recently downloaded all the updates available from the RHN. I also used RHN to install the updates after download. There were two packages left - the kernel and its source. I downloaded these so that the RHN update agent would say that my system is up to date. However, i didnt them as i already had this kernel version. I believe this shouldnt affect my system in a bad way. What heppens now, is that RH starts all the services on boot. Then when it is sopose to go to the login screen, it doesnt. The screen goes blank (black) and my monitor complains about the frequency (im not sure what it is). This use to happen when i used a resolution 1024x768. So i used 800x600 until i updated my drivers. The drivers are still installed, so i dont think that is the problem this time around. What could be the problem? And is there any way of fixing this without re-installing RH? PS - The more i use RH9, the more i hate it. I've had to re-install RH9 about 15 times literally because of this blank screen problem on start up. It's p****** me off. |
